The junior high students spent the first 9 weeks learning how to sew, and piece together a quilt block. A Gold Star family quilt was planned out. Each student made at least one block, which was then sewed into a quilt.
The students learned about community members, Doug and Cindy Nichols, and their late son, Bryan J. Nichols, who lost his life in Afghanistan. During the 2023 Veteran's Day program, high school students read poems, and a memorial. Elementary and junior high students performed patriotic songs. Junior High students presented the finished Gold Star Family quilt to Doug and Cindy Nichols.
